UNITED CANTERBURY CRICKET CLUB

The annual general meeting of the members of the U.C.0.0. was held last evening at Warner's Hotel. There was a very good attendance, and Mr A. C. Wilson waa voted to the chair. The minutes of the last annual meeting having been read, the secretary proceeded to read the balance-sheet, which showed the receipts daring the year to have been £167 7s 7d, while the expenditure was £lO5 7a 7d. The club was, however, £3 to the good. The balance-sheet wa3 then adopted. The meeting then proceeded to tho election of officers for tho ensuing year, with tho following result :—President, Mr 11. P. Lanco; vice-prod lent, Mr Corfe; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Milton ; committee—Messrs A. C. Wilson, Neilson, Secretan, Ollivier, Stevens, Condell, and Ashby. Tho chairman s..id the next business was to elect two members to represent the Club at tho Association meeting. The following gentlemen were elected as delegates—Messrs Condell and Milton. The meeting then proceeded to revise the

rates according to notice given at a previous meeting, after which votes of thanks were passed to the secretary and treasurer and to the committee for the manner in which they had carried out their duties durirglasfc teison. Mr .Morrison suggested that a recommendation should go from the club to the association to bring out a professional bowler to Christchurch to assist the various clubs. Ho thoujht now that the Canterbury cricketers had attained tho position they had done, it was time they followed the example of another club in the colony. A professional bowler brought out hero under such circumstances might do a very thriving businees in other ways. ITo would put his suggestion in the way of a resolution. Seconded by Mr Neilson, and carried.

The Chairman said it was principally a question of ways and means. As far as he was aware, the association owed £2OO already.

It was resolved to forward the recommendation to the secrotary of tho Canterbury Cricket Association.

Mr Heewin expressed his dissatisfaction at the very few matches which the U.C.C.C. had played during the past season. This was one great reason why they could not get a much larger number of members to the club. He would also suggest that the members of the club should have a uniform. In reference to the second eleven, he would propose Mr W. Milton as captain of that team. Mr Milton declined to act, as he had already too much to do. Mr Frith proposed Mr W. F. Neilson. Seconded by Mr Ashhy. Ultimately the motion was altered as follows—" That Mr N.ilson be requested to arrange matches for members of the club who might not be engaged in association matches, with power to appoint a deputy." The motion was agreed to. The usual vote of thanks to tho chair concluded the proceedings.
