POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 6. For Wellington and Wanganui, per St. Kilda, at 11 a.m.; late letters, 11.20 a.m.; railway station, 12.10 p.m. train. For Wellington, Newcastle, and Sydney, per Easby, at 11 a.m.; late letters, 12.20 a.m.; railway station, 4 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Taupo, at 3 p.m.; late letters, 3.20 p.m.; railway station, 4 p.m. train. For Otago, per Rotorua, at 1.50 p.m.; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2.40 a.m. train. For South Australian Colonics, per Albion, at 1.50 p.m.; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2.40 p.m. train. ALTERATION AND ACCELERATION OP MAILS. Notice.— On and after Saturday. 7th inst., mails for despatch by express train will close daily at 7.30 a.m. for the following offices :—Rakaia, Ashburton, Temuka, Timaru, St. Andrews, Waimate Junction, Waimate, Waitaki, Oamarn, Palmerston, Waikouaiti, Port Chalmers, and Dunedin, The Lyttelton mails now closing at 3.20 p.m., Will close at 3.30 p.m. daily. The mails for Temnka, Ashburton, Timaru, Kaiapoi, Rangiora, Oxford, Pernside, Leeston, and Southbridge, now closing at 3.20 p.m., will close at 4 p.m. daily. box, guard’s van, must not bo used for the Wanaka’s mail. The next English mail, via San Francisco, will close on Friday, September 13th. SYDNEY J. DICK, Cbief Postmaster.
