HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

Th? Hospital' and Charitable Aid, Board met on Saturday night, in the Hospital, at Beven o'clock. Present —His* Worship tbo Mayor of Christchureh (in the chair), his Worship the Mayor of Sydenham, and Dr. Turnbutt, The minutes of the last meeting wero read and confirmed. DISPENSING TO OUTSIDE INSTITUTIONS. It was resolved that a reply be sent to the letter from the Government, giving them the necessary information re dispensing ta outside institutions, viz.—The Lunatics A*ylum, Gaol, and Police, Female Ref >.\ge, Ashburton Home, Burnham Industrial School, Immigration Depot, and Charitable Aid Department. RECEIPTS AND EXPENDITURE. It was ordered that the report on the Hospital, re receipts and expenditure, bo held over for the present. . ORPHANAGE. A i&umbe? of applications for boys to be apprenticed from the Lyttelton Orphanage, wero considered and dealt with. A letter was read from Miss Fidler, stating that she was willing, under cortain conditions, to make arrangements for giving a course of instruction to the elder girls at the Orphanage. ASHBURTON HOME. Mr J. E. March report that he had visited the Ashburton Home and found things in a satisfactory condition, the old men appearing grateful for their change of residence. Some modification of the dietary scale, especially with regard to convalescents from the Hospital, was necessary. (|| It was resolved that such additions to. the scale in individual cases that dpnmnded it should be permitted, It was reaolved on the recommendation of My Marsh that seeds should be purchased, a ad the services of a man should be temporarily engaged for the cultivation of a portion of the ground attached to the Home. AKARGA HOSPITAL, An application won made by Dr. Guthrie for the permanent appointment of a night nurse for the Akaroa Hospital. The secretary was instructed to write to Dr. Guthrie, to the effect that the Board could not ace its way to the permanent appointment, of a nurse, but that in the case specified in Dr. Guthrie's letter as demanding such attendance, a temporary arrangement might be entered into. A number of accounts wero passed for payment. ■WEEKLY REPORTS. The acting-house surgeon's and house steward s reports wore presented. From the former it appeared that eipht mal" patients had

been admitted during the past week, ending August 31st. The house steward's report stated that ten patients had been discharged during the same period—eight males and two females. DONATION. Mr A. Duncan made a present of a number of rose trees to the Hospital. It was resolved that the secretary should write on behalf of the Board, thanking Mr Duncan for his donation. This concluded the business, and the Board adjourned at 10 p.m.
