Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations : THURSDAY, AUGUST 29. For Otago, overland, at 6 a.m. For Kaikonra and Wellington, per Tui, at 3 p.m.; late letters, 3.30 p.m.; railway station, 4 p.m. train. For Nelson, "Westport, and Greymouth, per Star of the South, at 3 p.m.; late letters, 3.20 p.m.; railway station, 4 p.m. train. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Eingarooma, at 1.50 p.m.; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2.40 p.m. train. FRIDAY, AUGUST 30. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Taiaroa, at 1.50 p.m.; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2.40 p.m. train. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
