The Queensland wools are lower. Serajero is partly fortified. The Austrians are making the place their head quarters. Reinforcements are concentrating. The Montenegrins are forcibly resisting the Austrian occupation of Bosnia. The Turkish garrison refusing to surrender Podjoritza, the Montenegrins are bombarding it. The “Post” urges the Government to annex Herat and Kadahar should the Ameer of Afghanistan refuse to receive the mission sent by the Indian Government to Cabul. LATEST. The Austrians followed up the Serajero victory by a serious Bosnian defeat at Solatz in a pitched battle. AUSTRALIAN. Cooktown, August 25. There has been a new rush, at which there were 1300 Chinese. Serious frays took place between them and the diggers, and several were killed. Melbourne, August 26. Sir George Bowen has accepted the Governorship of the Mauritius. It is stated he will leave in a couple of months. NEW ZEALAND TELEGRAMS. [per press agency.] Interprovincial Football Match. Dunedin, August 26. A man named John Gleeson was drowned at the Dunedin jetty yesterday, while attempting, when in a state of intoxication, to cross to the vessel to which he belonged. Arrangements are to be made for holding a grand annual musical competition in Dunedin. Thanksgiving services for the preservation of peace were held in all the Dunedin Anglican churches yesterday. A smart shock of earthquake was felt in Dunedin and the country districts at 2.45 on Saturday. [from our own correspondent.] Dunedin, August 26.
