Austrian Regiments Refuse to Face the Enemy, and are Decimated.
Assassination in St. Petersburgh. Thirty Battalions of Turks Join the Bosnians. SPECIAL TO THE GLOBE. London, August 17. There are indications of Servia helping Bosnia. Troops have been sent to Belgrrde to effect a junction with the Bosnians. The chief of the Russian police has been "daggered" dead. The motive is said to be political. The Lancashire game was drawn in favor of the Australians, who had a hundred and twenty to get, and one out for forty. [special to the press agency.] London, August 17. The relations between Austria and Turkey continue unsettled. No convention is yot signed. Q-reat military preparations continue in Bosnia. Three Austrian regiments, refusing to advance, were decimated, and, continuing mutinous, more executions followed. Those remaining were then sent prisoners to Austria. The G-erman loan of Beventy-four million francs has been negotiated with a Paris banker.
The "Monitcur" announces a change of the Egyptian Ministry to-day. The administration of the country is entirely out of the hands of the K>edive. Rivers Wilson is Finance Minister.
London, March 17. The match with Lancashire resulted in a draw.

[FSB PBBBS AGENCY.J Auckland, August 19. William Long, laborer, Hobson street, attempted suicide by hanging yesterday, bufc was discovered in time. During the voyage of the Lady J'ocelyn small-pox broke out soon after leaving London, but owing to the prompt action of the doctor, who separated the patients, the disease did not spread. Dunedin, August 19. Miss Hefford, who recently sustained the character of Maritana in the opera of that name was, on Saturday, in recognition of her great success, presented with a gold watch and chain, set of jewellery, and purse of eighty sovereigns. A numerously signed address will in a few days bo presented to Mr Bategate, E.M., disclaiming all sympathy with the recent attack* made upon him. The University Council on Saturday refused an offer equivalent to £IOOO a year for the extension of the lease of one of the estates comprised in their endowments. The nominators of All Saints parish have' telegraphed to England ror a successor to the Rev. R. L. Standford. The transactions of the National Insurance Company for the last half-year show a credit to profit and loss account of £21,258, out of which the directors a dividend of 10 per cent.
