POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places aa under, subject to the necessary alterations FRIDAY, AUGUST 16. For Otago, overland, at 11 a.m. For Wellington, Westport, Greymonth, Hokitika, and Australian Colonies, per Tararua, at 1.50 p m.; late letters, 2.10p.m.; railway station, 2.10 p.m. train. Mails per Rotorua will close as under— For United Kingdom, via San Francisco, Continent of Europe, America, Sandwich Islands, Northern Ports of Now Zealand, Sydney, Brisbane, Ac., at •'! p.m.; late letters, 3.20 p.m. Money orders at 1 p.m. Book packets, newspapers and registered letters, at 2 p.m, Late letters for the above mails can be posted in the guard’s van attached to the 4 p.m. Lyttelton train on August 16th, provided such letters bear an additional single rate of postage as a late fern The English mail via ban Francisco will be due in London October Ist.
