George Trimble, for being drunk at the railway station, was fined 20s, and ordered to pay Is cab hire. John Kennedy was lined 10s. Two first offenders were fined 5s each, one being ordered to pay Is fid cab hire in addition. False Pretences. —Thomas Lemon and Edward Driscoll, who had been charged, under the Vagrant Act, with obtaining money by false pretences, were discharged, Inspector Hickson informing the Bench that he did not wish to offer evidence against them, as it was of the same nature as that given in the previous case. The Bench, in discharging Driscoll, told him that he was to consider himself lucky in getting off. There could be no doubt that he had been going about the country on a swindling expedition. He knew perfectly well that the goods were not such as they were described to he, and that they did not contain the lengths that they were sold as containing. Ho trusted that the narrow escape they had had would be a warning to them for the fidure.
