The Customs duties collected here on Friday, August 2nd, amounted to £923 2s sd. The items :—Wines, £9l 9s 8d; spirits, £3OO 13s 8d; tobacco, £76 12s 6d; cigars, £3l 15s 5d ; ale, in bulk, £5 ; tea, £lsl 2s 6d ; cocoa, £3 2s 6d ; sugar and molasses, £lB6 18s 2d j goods by weight, £l9 j ad valorem, £5-1 Bs. LAND SALE. At Messrs H. Matson and Co.'s land sale room on Saturday last there was a fair attendance of purchasers present, and a number of sections in the various suburbs were disposed of. The Chertsey township oxtension was also offered, but owners' values being slightly in excess of buyers' ideas no business wns done. Although there were numerous purchasers at a price, the owner preferred holding until after the harvest rather than ,„.. i,u f.nnnfrssion3 in tho several reserves. They dispose! lot Macintosh estate, comprising 1400 acres freehold, 4<JJ acres preemptive right, 'IOOO acres run with 5000 sheep and improvements, at £11,875; also, a farm at Ashburton of 90 acres, with considerable improvements, for £2130, equal to £27 per acre.
