Lyttelton, 15; A. G-. Steel, 59; L. K. Jarvis, 38 ; D. Q,. Steel, 13 ; lion, Eiigh, 21 ; P. S. Morton, 12 ; C. Pigtr, 11 ; A. F. J. Ford, 22 ; C. Wood, 2 ; sundries, 16 ; total, 285. In his second innings against Leicester Charles Bannerman was run out. Horan’s score was 50, not 60 as telegraphed. For Leicester Wheeler made 65; Panter, 33 ; Marriott, 18; Bishop, 10; Sankcy, Paruham, Walter, Rylott, Randon, all nil. The “ Australasian” states that in recent wagering in connection with the Melbourne Cup support has been awarded to Amendment, a well-known supporter of the turf having backed him to win something like £IO,OOO, at an average price of 1000 to 33, but there is plenty more money at the same price in the market. Chester is scratched for the Sydney Metropolitan and Viscount for the Melbourne Cup. “ Augur ” writes thus on the New Zealand candidates Le Loup and Trump arrived on Saturday evening, but were not landed until the following afternoon, when they were at once taken on to their comfortable quarters at Mr W. E. Dakin’s stables. “ I saw them both in their boxes, and there is no mistake about their being two splendid representatives, When Trump strips at Melbourne, I think the universal verdict will bo that a more evenly shaped and gentlemanly colt never trod the green sward at Flemington. Both horses are full big, and I question very much if Mr D/kin will be able to get them thoroughly fit for the Melbourne Cup. But later in the season one, if not both, of these fine sons of Traducer will make their distinctive mark upon the Australian turf. The admirable manner in which they were landed reflects great credit upon Mr Yallance.” In his second article on the Cup horses “ Augur” reviews the chances of those ranging between Bsfc and 7»t 4'hs, from the top weights down to Habena. He fancies most First King, Chester, Oalamia, Savanaka, Bwiyoiler, Stratbearn, and Democrat,
