The Government has instructed the Italian representative at Vienna to disavow on the part of the Government any participation in the recent democratic meetings demanding Trieste and the Tyrol. It is announced that Mr Macandrew has resigned the portfolio of Secretary for Lands, and that Mr Stout has been appointed thereto, but he will retain the office of Attorney-General. Mr Macandrew remains Minister of Public Works. Westpobt, July 26. The Koranui Coal Mining Company has appointed Mr Pobeon engineer, and called for
tenders to-day for colliery works at Waimangaroa. Eight and a half tons of stone from the new leader at Maloney's claim at Lyell have been crashed, and the result is 175 ounces retorted gold.
