[pee peess agency.] Wellington, July 18. An Order in Council notifies the incorporation of the North Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association. To-night’s “Gazette” gives the Customs revenue at. the several ports of New Zealand for the financial year ended June 30th as follows : Auckland, £210,042 ; Thames, £8620 ; Russell, £1076 ; Monganui, £367 ; Hokianga, £1596; Kaipara, £3ll ; Tauranga, £1458; Poverty Biy, £10,792; New Plymouth, £8726 ; Wanganui, £23,601; Wellington, £185,883 ; Napier, £40,706; Wairau, £5279; Picton, £lOll ; Havelock, £802; Kaikoura, £982 ; Nelson, £35,041 ; Westport, £13,416 ; Greymouth, 39,277 ; Hokitika, £29,619 ; Lyttelton, £223,458 ; Akaroa, £B2; Timaru, £lB 396; Oamaru, £15,140; Dunedin, £356,223 ; Invercargill, £38,727 ; Riverton, £3724. The Customs revenue for the last quarter was £303,544. In the corresponding quarter of the previous year it was £303,554.
A despatch from Downing street to the Marquis of Normanby, respecting the provisional appointment of Mr Alex. Cracoft Wilson as Consul Agent for Italy at Christchurch, gives instructions to recognise Mr Wilson definitely in that capacity. A circular despatch from Sir M. Hicks Beach to the officer ad ministering the Government of the colony, points out more precisely that had been previously done, the extent to which Her Majesty’s ships are subject to local quarantine regulations. The Imperial Government are of opinion that Her Majesty’s ships in colonial waters should be subject to loeal quarantine regulations in the same manner as merchant ships ; but that local authorities should nob in any way interfere with the internal management of her ships, or with their freedom to proceed to sea whenever the officer in command may deem such course requisite. James Carroll was committed for trial this afternoon to the Supremo Court at Hokitika, for attempted rape on the 25th ultimo, on a married woman at Nelson Creek. The evidence was most conclusive.

The Minister of Public Works met a large and influential deputation here, relative to wharf extension, dredging, and approaches to present wharf. He promised that the dredging should be seen to. He stated that a sum for the extension of the wharf would bo placed on the estimates, and that plans wore in course of preparation.
