INTERPROYINCIAL. [PER PEEBS AGENCY.] Dunedin, July 17. Another plan in connection with the railway passenger station and goods shed is to be prepared, and will probably be accepted by the Harbor Board, City Council, and Chamber of Commerce, and be endorsed by the Government. The school commissioners of Otago, at a meeting held yesterday, decided that it would be inexpedient to part with the fee simple of any of the education reserves. Mr Macandrew says the railway department has obtained some locomotives from America which will do the through trip from Christchurch to Dunedin in ten hours. The City Council resolved last night to spend £IOO to test the system invented by A. and T. Burt for disposing of the sewerage of the city. Mr Fisher, in the City Council last night, showed by statistics that since tho Council hud adopted the plan of advertising in the “ Daily Times” only, tho number of tenders for corporation contracts have steadily decreased. He moved that the former system of advertising should be resorted to, and that the “ Times” should be asked to allow the existing contract to be rescinded. The motion was rejected.
