TWELFTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS.

MAIDEN CITY LODGE, LYTTELTON,

The anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne was celebrated by the Maiden City Lodge at Lyttelton, on Friday last. After a meeting, at which several new members were {proposed for initiation, the members of the odge and their visitors (for all Orangemen were invited) had dinner at the Foresters ’ Hall, Lyttelton, an excellent dinner being provided by Brother Anderson, of the Albion Hotel. Bro. McLellan occupied the chair, and was supported on his right by the master of the lodge, Bro. W. Graham, junior, and on his left by Bro. Anderson. After dinner the chairman proposed the toasts of “ Her Majesty,” the “ Prince and Princess of Wales and the Royal Family,” the charter toast, “ The glorious, pious, and immortal memory of King William the Third,” « The Governor of New Zealand,” and “ The Earl of Enniskillen, Grand Master of the Order,” responded to by Bro. Anderson, Bro. Kevell proposed “The Grand Master of the Middle Island, which was responded to by Bro. Reeves, a visitor from Kaiapoi, The chair then gave “Bro. Johnston, of Ballykillbeg,” after which the following healths were drunk—" Kindred Societies,” responded to on behalf of Masonry by Bro. Mcßeth; “Visiting Brethren,” responded to by Bro. Reeves ; “All Grangemen round the Globe “ Master and Officers of Maiden City Lodge,” responded to by Bros. Graham, Anderson, Robinson, and Meßeth; “ All Poor and Distressed Brethren,” the “ Chairman,” and the “ Press.”

Songs were sung by Bros, Robinson, Reeves, McLellan, Oathro, Johnston, Lester, and Jones, a remarkably pleasaut evening being spent.

LOYAL ORANGE LODGE, KAIAPOI

The celebration of July 12th was commemorated by the Loyal Orange Lodge, Kaiapoi, by a banquet in the Institute Hall on .Friday evening. About sixty brethren sat down to a spread, which did great credit to the catering of Mr Burnip, of Middleton’s Hotel. The chair was occupied by Bro. T, Ballantyne, W.M,, the vice-chair by Bro. Mathers (W.M , Softon) and Bro. H. Re veil. Grace was said by the Rev. W. F. Oidham, and thanks returned by the Secretary. After the cloth was drawn the Chairman gave the toasts of “The Queen and Royal Family,” “The Charter toast,” “ The J.G.M., Earl of Enniskillen,” “ The G M’s. of England and Scotland,” and the G M. of the Middle Island” (Bro. Rcvcll), which was warmly gree ed. The Vice-chairman gave the toast of “Bro. Johnston, of Ballykillbeg,” which was received with Kentish tire. The W.M. proposed “ The Clergy,” to which the Rev. W. F. Oldham responded. Bro. Revell proposed “The Press,” The toasts of “ The Medical Officer of the Lodge,” “Kindred Societies,” responded to by representatives of the Freemasons, Oddfellows, Foresters, and Protestant Alliance, “Orangemen, all over the world,” “Tho ’Prentice Boys of Derry,” “Prosperity to the Kaiapoi Lodge,” “ Our next Merry Meeting,” and “Tho Host and Hostess,"’ were duly honored.
