INTERPROYINCIAL, [PER PRESS AGENCY.] Timaru, July 3. As tho south train duo from Oarnaru at 10.10 this morning came up to the crossing near Bruce’s mills it came into collision with a dray laden with shingle, smashing the dray to atoms. Luckily no damage was done to the engine or train. A heavy north-west gale is blowing. Wellington, July 3. A deputation from Blenheim met Mr Macandrew and Mr Ballance this morning. After a lengthy interview, Mr Macandrew promised to have the tenders immediately called for the construction of the railway into the town and a combined bridge over the Opawa river. Probably the station will not be on the site originally intended, as the deputation pointed out that another site, equally central, can be obtained at much less cost. He the bridge over the Clarence River, Mr Macandrow promised to have the matter investigated, with a view to having the amount required for bridging tho Clarence placed on the estimates.
