One thousand I*Tativ:B and many Europeans are assembled at Waitara. It was a general holiday in New Plymouth. By arrangement between the • rosier and R-ewi, subsequent to meeting yeKtoraoy movn>ng, no meeting took place to-day, which was a disappointment. In consequence the day was occupied in gr<. clings, and the distribution of food; 91 pigs, I bullock, 2'/2S kits pot; toes, and a large number of dried sharks were distributed, Waitaba, June 28. The Premier met Rewi at 3 p.m. ■ After exchange of peeches Rewi demanded the restoration of Waitara to the Maoris as the price of reconciliation. Receiving Waitara lie would become one with the pakehas. He recommended the Premier to sleep upon his words, and me-jt him in the morning. The meetings appear to be a terrible blunder \on the part oi Sir Gt.
