AUSTRALIAN. Sydney, June 22. The Brisbane left Foochow on Sunday, with a cargo of new teas for Sydney and Melbourne. INTERPROYINOIAL. [PEB PEEBB AGENCY.] Waitaba, June 22. Sir George Grey, with Messrs Shceban, Fisher, and staff, arrived here at 7 p.m. yesterday by special train. The meeting will be poorly attended, not more than three hundred natives being here at present, the continuation of the wet weather being in a great measure preventive. The Government house built for the reception of the Natives was this morning under water. Rewi remains at the Pah, on the e ast bant of the river, and is much annoyed at there being no proper accommodation for himself aud followers. A Native has strongly remonstrated with the civil commissioner as to the suitableness of the present position, and suggested the advisability of the buildings being erected on the bank of the river. Had this been done, all unpleasantness on this account would have been obviated. Every one is disappointed at the small attendance of Natives. Forty tents have been telegraphed for and are expected here by the noon train. A banquet is to bo given to Sir G. Grey on Monday. It has been raining for the last twenty-four hours, and a heavy storm is now brewing. Wellington, June 22.
A “ Gazette Extraordinary ” just issued contains a proclamation calling Parliament together for the despatch of business on Friday, the 26th July next. Blenheim, June 22.
A large public meeting has been held re railway extension and the erection of bridges, connecting the town and country, and an influential committee appointed to impress upon the Government the necessity of carrying out the works.
