The following table, compiled from that published in the “ Gazette,” shows the total number of acres under crop, exclusive of land under grasses in February, 1877, and February,
The total number of holdings of over an acre in extent in the colony was in February, 1878, 20,519 ; against 18,750 at the same date in the previous year. The estimated gross produce of grain, potatoes, and hay in the colony for the two years was as follows :
