[By Telegeapit.]
[FBOM THE COKKESPOXDKN'T OV TUJ3 PTJKS3.] TIMABTT, Jur.e 13. In the Supreme Court to-day true bills were found against John Costello, for horse stealing; Henry Smith, for larceny; J. T. Pain, for embezzlement; Donald McKay, for arson. Richard Bell pleaded guilty to sheepstealing. Sentence was deferred for evidence as to character. William Corle'.t, who was a publican at Cave, was found guilty of forgery and uttering, and sentenced to four years. In the case against Alexander Bell for shooting with intent to injure a man named Kmesley, the jury returned a verdict of guilty of shooting, but that there was no evideroc to show whether a leaden bullet was used or not, as a " bullet" was stated in the indictment. His Honor reserved the point for the Court of Appeal, to say whether the want of evidence regarding it quaehed the indictment. The prisoner is to be released on bail. A Btrange circumstance about the case is that a revolver bullet was found in tbe lining of the wall of the billiard-room where the shot was fired, and in a direct line with the elevation of Bell's revolver ; but on being produced in Court to-day was found to be a bullet much too small for prisoner's weapon, and show r ed no trace of being fired off. IS T o bill was found against Isabella Dick for larceny of dressmaking materials from Sutter, a draper. The Grand Jury made a presentment, pointing out in strong terma the had arrangements of the new Oovu'thouae, and its utter unsuitabiiify for Supreme Court purposes. Thc-y urged that new buildings should be erected, and the present one used for a Magistrate's Court. They also urged the necessity for a quarterly sitting of the Supreme Court, pointing out the hardships prisoners suffered by being kept in gaol six months. His Honor agreed with all the points of the presentment, and promised to use his best endeavors to get the reforms carrier! out.
