THE IMPOUNDED LAND FUND.
The following is the reply of the Secretary to the Treasury, to the letter of the Selwyn County Chairman on the subject of the surplus land fund which has not been paid over:— [copy.] Treasury, Wellington, Ist June, 1878. Sir,—Replying to your letter of the 22nd ultimo, in which by resolution of the County Council you request that the balance of surplus land fund to the 31st December payable to the County of Selwyn may be distributed amongst the Road Boards in the County, 1 have the honor, by direction of the Honorable Colonial Treasurer, to inform you that as soon as the sum distributable is ascertained it will bo paid over to the Road Boards entitled. I have the honor to be, sir, Your most obedient servant, C. T. Batkin, Secretary to the Treasury. The Hon. John Hall, M.L.C., Chairman Selwyn County Council, Christchurch.
