The Customs duties collected hero on Tuesday, June 4th, amounted to £578 11s Bd. The items (were as follows :—Spirits, £253 Is 3d; wine, £lO 9s 7a ; tobacco, £IOB 5s ; tea, £46 15s 6d ; sugar, £lO6 6s 6d ;ad valorem, £lll2s ; goods by weight, £36 10s 4d • other duties, £5 11s 6d. On Wednesday, June e*h’ the amount was £483 8s 7d. The items were : —Spi*u. a £346 14 S 9d ; wine, £5 6s sd; tobacco, £57 15s; tea, COS . SU gar, £9 9s lid; ad valorem, £l4 4s ; other duties, £94 i7 S ed. LAND SALE. Messrs R. Walton and Co. held a very large sale of town, suburban and country properties yesterday at their rooms. JVery good prices were realised, the principal item in the sale being the disposal of‘the sections near the township of Papanui which brought high prices. A most elaborate plan of the sections ~^S!ll*on’their’ imagination, and adorned it with pictures of the tram cars of the Canterbury Tramway Company loaded with passengers, passing the sections at various points. The bidding was spirited throughout, about 111 sections being placed. The property is situate close to the property recently sold for Mr J. T. Matson, and adjoins the township of Papanui and comprised 62 acres 3 roods 16 perches.
