May 28. The Loudon papers are sanguine that the peace Congress will meet on the 11th of June. It is substantially confirmed that Prince Bismarck will preside, and that the Marquis of Salisbury, Count Schouvaloif and Count Audrassy will attend. The naval preparations at Chatham have been relaxed. Sharp continuous fighting has taken place in South Africa. The British are generally successful. [special to the peess agency.] Prince Bismarck invites the Powers to a Congress, which is expected to meet on the 11th of June. The whole treaty is to be submitted officially. It is stated in Parliament that the prospects of peace were materially improved. London, May 27. AUSTELLIAN CEICKETEE3 V. MAEYLBBONE CLUB, The first innings of the Marylebone Club closed for 33. The first innings of the Australians for 41. The second innings of the Marylebone Club closed for 19. The Australian bowling was very effective. The latter maintains that it should be consulted on educational matters by the Board, and it has warned the head master of one of the Dunedin district schools that the recent appointments made to it by the Board are illegal.
