The Titan, however, with the assistance of the Hopper barge, managed to tow her clear, though the vessel must have been dragged through a foot of mud in places. Had the tide been an ordinary one there would have been no difficulty. DISASTER TO THE CEAIGIE LEE. Messrs Levin and Co. received a telegram on Saturday, stating that the barque Craigie Lee, Captain Winther, from London to Wellington, was compelled to put into Geralton, West Australia, having lost her topmasts, sails, yards, anda portion of the bulwarks. The Craigie Lee left London on 6th February, and has been looked for the last fortnight, as she was long overdue. The repairs, it is expected, will take two months to complete, therefore she will not arrive here till the end of July. Messrs Bethune and Hunter, Lloyd’s agents, have also received the folio wing telegram:—“The Craigie Lee has put in here with loss of topmast, sails, and bulwarks. Her cargo is much damaged. The repairs to enable her to proceed will take two months.— Geo. Shenton. Lloyd’s Agent, Freemantle, 25th.”— “ New Zealander.” SHIPPING TELEGEAMS. Auckland, May 28. Sailed— I Taioroa, for the South. The City of New York sailed for San Francisco this afternoon, taking 32 saloon and 28 steerage passengers from Australia, and 29 from New Zealand. A message from Kaipara Heads, dated last night, says that great fears are entertained for the safety of the barque Otira, last seen six miles off the bar on Friday afternoon. The bar was fine, and there was nothing to prevent her coming in, but for some reason or other she stood to sea. The same night there came on a hard gale from the S.W., lasting Saturday. The bar has been fit to take every day since. Six other vessels have since arrived, none having seen the Otira. The Stella arrived on Saturday. Wellington, May 28. One seaman was lost, the tarpaulins were tom off the hatches, and the salt water getting into the fresh, rendered it useless. The crew experienced great privations for the last five days through want of water. The cargo from the wreck of the Ann Gambles is being landed successfully.
