Elliott yesterday received the following telegram:—“The barque Anne Gambles, from London to Otago, via the Bluff, is a total wreck at Te Wai’s point (east head of the Bluff.) The crew are reported safe. When I left yesterday tho forward part of the ship was out of the water. A survey has been held, and it is recommended that the vessel be sold this afternoon.” On receipt of this telegram Mr Elliott telegraphed, asking that the sale be delayed t’ 1 ! he went South, He left for the Bluff last night with Captain Russell, tho representative of the Insurance Companies. Tho cargo is reported to be a valuable one, and is said to be well insured. There is one policy in the Victoria ofiice for £BOO.
