ROAD BOARDS.

HEATHCOTE. The above Board met on Thursday, the 16th instant, at the Board office, Ferry road, at 2 p.m. Present —Messrs W. Attwood (chairman), R. Clephane, W. Hawker, and T. G. Moule. The clerk reported the receipts for the fortnight to be £ll9 8s 6d, in which sum was included an amount from the General Government 'of £7B 5s 6d, share of land fund to credit of the Selwyn County on 31st March, 1878. Bank balance is £4B 2s Bd. The report of the works committee on the various works in progress was read. The following correspondence was read and considered:—From Dr. TurnbuU re pound for the district. From chairman of the Selwyn County Council on the same subject. It was resolved to call for tenders for the erection of a pound if permission was granted by the County Council. J. V. Ross, chairman of the Local Board of Health, re sanitary matters. After some discussion, it was resolved to refer the matter to a committee to report next meeting. Treasury advising payment of share of county funds to 31st March. Hon. E. Richardson, re widening of roads; to be informed that the Board have no knowledge of the matters referred to. Heathcote and Hillsborough School Committee, asking for metal to improve school grounds; the clerk to reply. Accounts amounting to £485 15s 7d were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
