MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, May 18. [Before G. L. Mellioh, E q., R.M.] Drunkenness. —Garrett and Mary Gough were charged with being drunk and di.-orderlv, with assaulting Constable McDevitt, and too femal ■ prisoner with using oh cere language. They were sentenced to tw-lve months imprisonment. A first offender was fined^Cs. Larceny From a Dwelling. John Bro ‘kes was charg'd with the larcenv from a dwelling of a gold chain wirth £7 10j, the property of Charles Boyde, of Lyttelton. He was remanded to Lyttelton to be brought before the Magistrate there on Monday. A Disobedient Son. —Mrs A. Wilson, a widow residing at Springston, applied to have her son William sent to the Burnham Industrial School, as he was quite beyond her control. He was nine years and seven months old, and refused to go to school. She was afraid he would full among bad companions. The Bench committed the Ld for twelve months to be brought up in the Church of England religion. The mo - her was ordered to pay 7s 6d per week for him.
