The brigantine Circe arrived from Kaipara this morning. The brig Clematis, from Hobart Town, was sigjrnlled this morning, and was coming up the harbor when our express left. The Especulador sailed for Sydney last evening. The ship Himalaya was berthed at the Glad .tone Pier yesterday, and the Western Monarch comes in if possible to-day. Mr Smith, of Leßon’s Bay, has determined to try the use of steam carriage from his saw mills to the Heath cote, Kaiapoi, and Lyttelton. For this purpose he has engaged the p.s. Tongariro, which will now run regularly between the above places, or to any other where sufficient inducement offers. The Peterhead schooner Ebenezer. Capt. Milne, arrived yesterday from Mauritius with a cirgo of 255 tons sugar for Edwards, Bennett, and Co. She is a nearly new vessel, being on her second trip, and is a handsome and seaworthy craft. The run has occupied 46 days, her master reporting leaving Port Louis on March 29th. The trade winds were very fresh, but the weather fine. The easting was ran down in 42 S., some very heavy weather being encountered. Nugget Head was made on Thursday last, and thence variable and strong westerly breezes prevailed to arrival yesterday at noon. The schooner Sissy, now discharging grain at Onehnnga, proceeds to the Aratapu Mi ls, Kaipara, to load timber for Lyttelton, and the Fairlie, also at Onehnnga, will go to Te Kopnrn, Kaipara, where she loads for this port.
SHIPPING TELEGRAMS, Auckland, May 14. Arrived— Rotorua, from Sydney, and sailed South at 5 p.m. Passengers for Lyttelton—Mrs Munro, Mr Aitkins. Dunedin, May 14. A cablegram received from the Underwriters Association, dated London, 7th inst,, announces the arrival of the Calypso, from Dunedin, and St. Leonards, from Wellington. Port Chalmers, May 10. Arrived—Briuantine Camille, irem New York, after a passage of 119 days. She met with a series o! terrific gales from the S.W. to N.W., righ across the Southern ocean. She brings 130 tons o cargo, two-thirds for Dunedin, and the rest for th Blnlf. Ringarooma, from Lyttelton. Bluff, May 15. The Alhambra arrived at Ba.m. She left Melbourne at 6.30 p.m. on the 9th. Passed the Solan ders at 5 p.m. on the 14th. and hove to till 9 p.m Experienced heavy westerly gales during tbe passage with a very high sea, which was continually sweeping the decks, and washed away one boat. She brings 15 saloon and 31 steerage passengers for all ports. She sails at 4 p.m. for Dnnedin. Passengers for Lyttelton—Mr M’Pherson and 17 in eteerage. For Wellington Messrs Bnrwell, Fairlie, Eewings, M’Phail, and Sin steerage.
