A meeting of the members of the Church of England was held last night to consider whether they would accept Bishop Neville’s offer that, if the diocese purchased Littleburn estate of ten acres, he would erect an episcopal residence on it at his own cost. It was resolved that, considering the circumstance of the diocese, the offer could not be accepted. Eighty tons of quartz from the Gladstone Company’s reef at Arrowtown yielded 3050 z. A man named Power has been sentenced, in the Police Court, to three months’ hard labour for disobeying an order of the Court to contribute to the support of his children in the Industrial School.
