PARISH OF OPAWA.

The annual meeting of the parishioners was held on Monday evening in St. Mark's Church. The incumbent, the Rev. G. J. Cholmondeley, occupied the chair. There was a large attendance of church members. The Chairman stated the business of the meeting and referred to some tokens of progress noticeable during the past year, and to the satisfactory state of the parish finances as woidd be shown by the churchwardens' statement. Mr Gundry then read the churchwardens' report, and submitted the statement of accounts, which on the moti.n of Mr Hassal, seconded by Mr March, was unanimously adopted. The Incumbent announced the nomination of Mr Tipping as churchwarden, atd the parishioners elected Mr Souter to that office. The following gentlemen were then elected vestrymen for the ensuing year :—Messrs J. L. Coster, J. Sandford, T. M. Hassal, W. H. Gundry, A. A. Adley, J. E. March, C. S. Bell, T. Pavitt, Captain Bow, and the Hon. E. Richardson. Mr Fife was elected aulitor. On the motion of Mr Coster, seconded by Mr March, it was resolved-" That it be a recommendation to the incoming vestry that they promptly consider the question of obtaining a grant from the Church Property Trustees towards building a Sunday school, and of arranging for the same if they find it practicable." The churchwardens brought under the notice of the meeting a proposal for alterations to the church porch, and it was decided to carry out the same in accordance with a plan suggested by the Hon. E.Eichardson. The thanks of the parishioners were accorded to the retiring churchwardens and vestrymen, to Mr E. J. T. Ford, the superintendent, and the teachers in the Sunday school ; to Mr Harley, and the members of the choir, and to Mr Fyf e, the auditor. Special mention was also made of the services rendered to the parish by the ladies working party. Mr Reeves having proposed a vote ot thanKS to the Rev. Mr Cholmondeley, the meeting closed with the benediction.
