The Bank of New Zealand hulf-yearly meeting was held to-day. The report showed that the nett profit on 31st May, after making all deductions, was £82,658 ; balance from last half year, £I7OO ; total, £84,358, disposed of thus Dividend and bonus, 15 per cent., £54,375 ; increase to reserve fund, £25,000; balance to new account, £4983. Bates, Sise and Co., attorneys for Perry Davis, instituted proceedings yesterday in the Supreme Court against one Wdoken, as manufacturer of painkiller, said to be an imitation of that of Perry Davis. The South Canterbury Board of Education held a private meeting to-day to meet Mr Habens, secretary of the outgoing Board, who explained to them the position in which they would stand at their first general meeting to be held on 30th April. At the sale of the Hon. E. Richardson’s Albury estate to-day exceptionally high prices were realised for both town and station allotments. 3430 acres of farm land were sold at an average of £8 per acre, 1147 acres being withdrawn; Ip town sections of a quarter-acre each realised from £5 10s to £3O each, The remaining portion- of the property will be sold on May llth. At the meeting of the Alcaroa County Council to-day Mr J. A. Browne, who is at present acting as assistant engineer for the Lakes Trust, was appointed engineer to the Akaroa County Council at a salary of £450 per annum. 1 ■ •
