IITIEBPKOVINOIAI. [PEB PEE3S AGENCY.] Death by Burning*. Timahu, April 18, A man named Somers, a baker employed by Mendelsor, and Morris, Pleasant Point, was burnt "to death last night. He set a batch of bread at eight o’clock and went to bed at nine. The bakery, a detached building, was found on fire and burnt to the ground. On * v remains of Somers were found. Therms no clue to f*e cause of the fire The remains were t?.kc n the Pollia Hotel. An inquest will be nekl, Dttnepjn', April JB. A writ for £2OOO damages was’ yesterday served on the proprietors of the “Daily Times,” at the instance of Mr C. E. Haughton, for an alleged libel. The matters complained of, it is stated, were contained in a leading article published in the “ Times” of March 15th, and in a letter signed “ Morality” which appeared in last Tuesday’s issue of tha same journal. Mr McLaren, the self-constituted leader of the working men’s demonstration, was charged yesterday with riotous behaviour and drunkenness.
