There were triumphal arches, addresses, Ac. Taueanga, April 10. H.M.S. Wolverine, with the Governor, arrived yesterday. The Governor, Commodore and suite landed at the Town Wharf, having left the Wolverine under royal salute. The yards were manned. They were met at the wharf by the Town Board and principal townspeople. An address, read by Mr Edgecombe, chairman of the Town Board, and another by Hohepa Hikutai, the Ngaitangi chief. His Excellency replied, and then walked to the Cemetery to see the graves of the Gate Pah heroes. He then drove out to the site of the Gate Pah. The Governor expressed himself much pleased at the public reception. The Town Wharf was tastefully decorated and carpeted, and a handsome archway erected. The Governor, Commodore and suite started for the Lakes at eight this morning. The Hon. J. T. Fisher arrived last night and accompanied the Governor to-day. Te Awamutu, April 10. Sir G. Grey, Mr Sheehan, and Nahe arrived here this afternoon. A public banquet will be given them. It is now reported that Tawhiao’s invitation is put off to the 30th, if the meeting comes off at all. Wellington, April 10. A company has been formed here for fire and marine insurance, with a colonial capital of two millions in £lO shares : 10s per share payable, making £IOO,OOO cash capital. The directors are of high standing and large property. 4-mongst those interested are the Hons. Pharazyn, Randall, Johnston, and Dr. Grace, Messrs Jacob Joseph, Brandon, M.H.R., Walter Nathan, E. W. Mills. Qnehalf of the capital will be placed by private negotiation with influential persons throughout the colony prior to commencing business. The remaining shares will be held for distribution in successive issues to actual insurers in proportion to the insurance premiums paid by them. Dunedin, April 10.
