TARAXICUM and PODOPHYLLIN, » Stimulant to the Liver.—A dose of this combination is recommended for liver derangement, more particularly when arising from slight congestion. By gently stimulating the liver, and slightly moving the bowels, the heavy drowsy feeling and headache, with, generally, p»ins in the chest and back, especially after eating, are dissipated. Taraxicuru and Podophyilin is much safer in its action than calomel or blue pill, and certainly quite equal in power in rem ving the often distressing inconvenience and pain attendant on dyspepsia. In .America this remedy is very highly esteemed and approved. In England, taraxcum has been for years past proved of value in these ease, bat us combination with podophyilin or May apple resin, considerably enhances its power. Bottles, 2s 9d and 4s 6d each. The most inveterate, obstinate eruptions and pimdes are subdued by sulpholine, a«d a clear, healthy skin developed Those complaining of tender, reddened, and irritable skins or affected by the sun, rough winds, &c , and even sufferers from constitutional skin diseases, will derive great benefit and comfort by using sulpholine lotion, which has powerful conserving and sa utary action, removes the effect of constant perspiration, and maintains the cuticle in a free, healthy condition. AND IRON TONIC is a faithful compound of Quinine, the active principle of Yellow Cinchona, or Peruvian Bark, blended with a refined trustworthy preparation of Iron, produced in a form which the experience of many years has proved the best. Attention is more particularly called to this fact at the present time, when the prices of Quinine are ruling so extraordinarily high as to induce chemists to look everywhere for some substitute possessing similar virtues—a search hitherto fruitless. Notwithstanding the lor g period Quinine has been in nee by the Medical Faculty, its remarkable powers of repairing the loss of strength sustained by the human frame caused by disease, decay, prolonged 1 arassing, mental worry, or over work, &c., &c., besides its direct qualities as a febrifuge and remedy for complaints of an intermittent character, it is only of quite late years that anything like a due amount of appreciation has been accorded to it. The combination of Quinine with Iron presents a tonic of undoubted efficacy; it may be stated to be the best of all tonics, as the powerful virtues o both are consolidated, and their individua characteristics preserved. The principal property of the Iron in it chemical action on the blood, which i greatly enriches by increasing the quantit’ of the red corpuscular matter on which tb vital fluid depends for performing its irportant functions. Pepper’s Quinine and Iron Tonic, beig certified as composed of these importat medicines in their due proportions, ray therefore be relied on in cases where a corse of six lengthening treatment is indicted either with or without medical advice. The limited space of an advei tiseient will scarcley admit the enumeration ofiistinct complaints in which benefit migb be expected to follow the taking of Peper’s Tonic, but n- tably the derangement o the ner\ ous system, a weak, low state of htlth, which, reacting the mind, produces depressed irritable condition from whic any relief is gladly sought. Nervous rins, neuralgia, rheumatism, sciatica, lumago, are lessoned by Quinine and Iron • lor .cute neuralgia it is of little use giving anjhing else. There are a great many ailments, fr example—Bad Appetite, Indigestion, latulence, Heartburn, Loss of Zest for Exrcise, uncomfortable sensations of i angnor, ijbina of the Limbs, Dizziness, tendency 1 faU suddenly, Palpitation of the Heart, regularity of the secretions, &c., which cold ba entirely overcome by taking Pepper’sronio for a time. In cases of constitutional debility, vhich appear in almost every form, but promiently as consumption, with its train of symtoms more or less distressing, scrofula and is objectionable accompaniments, impovcithed circulation, wasting of the entire py;em—generally called decline—besides nuierona other forms of disease, quinine and bn, in the long run, is the only remedy. There are also ma y times when vthont suffering from any form of sickm s, not actually requiring medicine, but still ieling that something is necessary to maintai perfect health, either from the brain, undue fatigue, or the languor rising from sedentary occupation, a feeling olfceing below par becomes manifest, and unde thesa circumstances a few dos s cf Pepper’s Tonis will have surprising effect in a verysbort time.
