MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHBISTCHUECH. Sattjbday, Maech 30. [Before Gh L. Lee, Esq., and Dr. Back, J.P.'s.l Being About to Abscond. Siniuel Arm it-age, who had committed for trial at Timaru for embezzlement, was charged with being about to abscond from his bail. The warrant had been issued at Timaru, and on the application of Inspector Hickson accused was remanded to Timaru. Vageancy.—Annie Osborne was charged with frequenting a house of ni-ftmie in Salisbury street, occupied by H. Eewis. The evidence of the police and neighbors showed that the house was a very disreputable one, and a source of great annoyance for months past to the surrounding inhabitants. Inspector liickson told the Bench that it was intended to lay an information against Lewis. Accused, who had only recently been liberated from gaol, was sentenced to three months' lmprisionment with hard labor. LYTTELTON. Satueday, Maech 30. [Before H. E. Webb, Esq., J.P.] Deunkenness.—For this offence J. Tinnon and E. Coleman were each fined 10s, with the alternative of forty-eight hours' hard labour.
