Southern Cross took aboard 1500 sheep at the Tunnel Wharf, and sailed for Napier last evening. The Antares sniled at 2.30 a.m. yesterday with a light sou'-west wind, which soon took her well clear of the land. The Linda Weber sailed for Auckland yesterday. The Dunedin "Morning Herald" says:—"Mr Cornishe's fishing cutter Nonpareil returned from a fishing cruise yesterday, and the master reports that at ten o'clock on Wednesday night, the wind blowing hard from N,E., with a high sea, being distant about two- miles off Moeraki, he nearly ran on to a vessel bottom upwards. The night was rather dark, hut •ihere was sufficient light to enable him to make her out to be a craft of about 100 tons, but owing to the high sea running, he could not ascertain anything more, nor did he deem it advisable to stand by until daylight. Can this be the missing v schooner Excelsior, which sailed from Lyttelton for Wellington some time ago, and has since been unheard of ? We know of no other vessel that has sailed from any New Zealand port lately that yet remains to be accounted for, and it is somowhat singular that the now reported derelict has not been seen ere this by one or more of the many vessels that are sailinp on oar coast, for she most likely would have been in the track of the various coasters sailing to Moeraki, Oamaru, and Timaru, although it is possible she may have drifted close in shore, and 60 have escaped observation. Whatever it may be, however, it behoves the Government to take some steps to remove so dangerous an obstruction to the navigation of out waters, if for no other purpose. The fishing cutter's crew would doubtless give all the information "hat they themselves possess." SHIPPINGJTELEGRAMS. Auckland, March 26. Sailed —Minnehaha, with timber, for Lyttelton.
