MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHBTSTCHURCH. Wednesday, March 27. [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., E.M ] Drunkenness. Edward Westall was fined 20s, Wm. Millen 20s, Wm. Cody 20s, and John Thompson, who had been remanded from the previous day, was fined 10s. Forgery and Uttering.—A. J. Tudbsil was charged on remand with this offence. Dr. Foster, who appeared for the prosecution, said he had examined into the other cases mentioned by him, and did not intend to offer any evidence on them. His Worship then committed the accused to take his trial at the coming criminal session on the charge of having forged Martin Burns's name to a bill for £2OO. Bail was allowed, in two sureties of £2OO each, accused in £-100. Wike Desertion.—Arthur Dyson, charged on warrant with deserting his wife at Timaru, was remanded to that place on the application of Inspector Hickson. LYTTELTON. Wednesday, March 27. [Before H. R. Webb and H. Aliwright, Esqs., J.P.'s.] Drinkenness.—Jane Rhodes was lined os, or, in default, forty-eight hours. Civil Case.—Evans v. McDonald, claim £3 19s 4d ;MrH. N. Nalder for plaintiff ; judgment for amount claimed, with costs 9s, solicitor's fee 21s.
