A fire broke out in Green's Hotel, Maori Creek, this morniug, at 1 30, which destroyed the hotel and billiard room, Walker's boot store, the Good Templar Hall, Wilson's store, and Mrs Brown's fruit shop. Forty-four thousand salmon ova and fifteen hundred trout ova arrived to-day per Alhambra, being pari; o( : the consignment per Chimbarazo to Melbourne. They have been taken to Wallacefcown ponds, but the result; of. the inspection has not been ascertained. Sir S. Wilson examined them, and in his letter of advice to Mr Howard says that of the ova in two of the boxes packed by Mr Buckland only 270 are looking likely to hatch out. Those in the boxes packed by Youle' looked splendid, being large and healthy. Later.

Although the ova packed by Mr Youle looked clear and healthy, upon being examined with a glass they seemed imperfectly impregnated, and are thought- to have been prematurely taken from the fish. '1 he trout ova, which are in good condition, were packed by Buckiand, from Oapel's establishment at Footscray. Eew, if any, of the salmon ova are any good. The 30,000 presented by the Victorian Government, part of the same consignment, turned out better.
