Ringarooma arrived from Melbourne, via South, at 10 a.m., and sails far Wellington and Nelson this afternoon. ARRIVAL OF THE N.Z.S. CO.’S CHARTERED BARQUE LOCH GREE PROM LONDON. This vessel, which left Gravesend on the same day as the Pleiades, and was in company with her during the passage, was not long after her. At daylight yesterday morning she was off the Heads, and before 6 a.m. came to her anchorage off Diamond Harbour. Dr Donald went off early and soon cleared the vessel, every one being in good health and no illness having been experienced during the voyage. Proceeding aboard your reporter received a hearty welcome from Captain Jones, to whom we are indebted for the following particulars. The Loch Cree is a handsome iron barque of some 791 tons register, and is a long raking vessel with a fine sheer, sitting somewhat low in the water. She is a sister ship to the Loch Fleet, and is one of the well known Loch line, which are all Clyde built ships, owned by Messrs D. and G. Sproat of Liverpool. She has been running in the Sydney and San Franciaco trade, and her previous performances, as well as her present trip, have proved her a speedy craft. She was built in 1874, has a half poop and nice comfortable little saloon, and is very handsomely and heavily sparred. The Loch Cree comes consigned to the N.Z.S. Co., and is deeply laden with a large and valuable cargo. Besides several passengers, she brings 26 Government immigrants. These latter were under the charge of Dr. Hockridge, the surgeon-superinten-dent, and have all arrived in good health, and speak well of the provisions supplied and treatment they have received from all in authority over them. They were lodged down the after-hatch, and their quarters were certainly rather dirty, but we were told that this was in a great measure owing to the dead lights leaking in the heavy weather experienced on the const. The (trip has been a fast one of 83 days from taking her departure from the Lizard on December 19th to arrival yesterday. The weather has been fine, with the exception of two or three heavy gales, the most severe of which was experienced on March sth. During this latter Storm there were great electrical disturbances, the lightning being incessant, and at times seeming almost to cover the exposed metal on the masts and yards. One heavy sea broke aboard, but the damage done was of no serious character. Tristan D’Aoonha and the Crozots was the only land sighted, and when between the latter islands and Kerguelen’S land on the 15th and 16th teb. two icebergs were si hted. Only the Pleiades, Chrysomene, and a German barque bound to Singapore were spoken during the trip. Dr. Huekndge reports ail immigrants Li good health, no illness or accidents having occurred during the trip. The captain was presented with a testimonial by the passengers of a most flattering nature. The following is the captain’s report:—Left docks Dec. 11th, Gravesend on 1-th, Downs on 13th and Lizard on 19th; had light winds and fine weather across the Bay; caught N.E. trades on Jan - 3rd in 30 N., they were fresh and were carried right to the Equator, the line beingpassed on Monday, 14th Jan., in 27 W.; caught S.E. trades same day and carried them to 33 south, when they were lost on 26th Jam ; thenco to meridian of the Capo had moderate winds and fine weather; this point was reached on Feb, 6th. Ran down easting between 46th and 48th parallels, the westerlies ncing fresh and well to the northward. They wore carried to 125 15., tlan n.E. for tnrcc days; thence to Snares, whicn were made ou Saturday, March 9th. had Iresu westerlies. Up tnc coast had strong S.\V. gale, making Peninsula Monday afternoon, when the wind died away to a calm. A light N.E. breeze sprang up yesterday, bringing the vessel to her anchorage at 6 a.m.
