She brines a number of passengers, and a large and valuable cargo consigned to Edwards, Bennett, » and Co. THE INCHGREEN. BARQUE, FROM CALCUTTA. Tim Inchgreen arrived from Calcutta on Saturday afternoon, and, in accordance with orders, anchored at the Heads. Captain Cook, her master came up to Lyttelton to buy stores to re-victual his vessel. It is as vet we understand, uncertain whether the barque will discharge here or proceed to Dunedin, but this will probably be decided to-day. home mouths' ago, we reprinted from the Melbourne ■“ Argus ” a description of this grand vessel. She was built some two years ago at Greenock, and, with the exception of her deck and running gear, is of metal throughout, her hull being of steel. Each of her sailors is provided with a separate berth, containing a chest of drawers, washing stand. &c„ and the necessary cooking and eating utensils are provided by the owners. The Inchgreen may therefore be fairly called a Phmsoll ship, and we hear that the good quarter provided lor the tailors (equal to many saloons) are thoroughly appreciated by the men, who prefer taking a little lower rate of wages for the extra commit provided to sailin'- in other ships at lull rates. Of great carrying°cap.;Cit.V, and built most substantially throughout, the Inchgreen is a credit to both Guilders and owners. Her muster Captain Cook, reports leaving Calcutta on Christmas Day, and •carrying fresh N.E. monsoons to 4 IS. A succession of calms and excessively light variable winds wore expelienced thence to 7 S. ( 21 days bavins been oocu■pied in sailing these eleven decrees,an average of only r little more than thirty-one miles day. The S.E. trades were then caught, and were tt.r, .carrying the barque to 2." dog. S. Light aud variables again prevailed to 42deg. S., the easting being run down on iho loth parallel as far as the Leuwin, aud thence to Tasmania in 19deg. S. The westerlies were fresh, stud were carried to making fixe Snares, on Monday last. Up the coast had light oulliiug winds, with the exception of one fresh southerly blow of a few hours’duration. The Heads were made on Sat ur,biv morning, the barque anchoring at 1 p.m. Her is principally corusacks aud woolpacks, of which she lias 1300 tous on board. 'J he three weeks’ light weather iu the doldrums have prevented her from mhit'o 11 rapid passage, but we understand she has shown splendid capabilities of speed daring the trip, /HE GLENCOE. Captain Carey, tote master of this unfortunate vessel accompanied by the crow, arrived from Gore Biiv in the .Star ot the Eonth yesterday. It appears the vussol was moored to the Government buoy on Saturday, March 2nd, and additional security hud one anchor down, A strong north easier was blowing and the vessel dragged both anchor and mioorings, aud went ashore close ito the Hon, Mr Eobinson’s lauding ploci, speedily becoming a wl . cC k. The crow all got ashore wifely, and 'saved most of their clothes. Captain Lunsford, ■sn, veror of the Insurance Association, is at Gore Rn , ‘ The Mrque’s deck and bulwarks were above when the Star of the South left Gore Bay ou Saturday. Captain Carey aud the Messrs Duldy were the owners of the vessel, wh.ch was Insured fr.r CloOO iu the South British, but that company £ave reinsured tar half that amount.
