To prevent the recurrence of a nnisance arising from defective drainage on west side of Lincoln road, I have written to the Sydenham Borough Council, suggesting certain improvements in that locality. .... , ± , 3. In course of inspection from house to house at Walt ham, I observed that rubbish was being thrown in the temporary drain cut by the Drainage Board to relieve a portion of this district. I have taken steps in the matter, as it is necessary that this drain shonld be kept open, as a great benefit <vas derived from it during last winter. i. I discovered an offensive cesspool near premises in which a case of typhoid fever has been reported. I have served notice on the owner to abolish the cesspool and provide closet pans. A letter was read from Mr Loughnan, as solicitor for Mr Vincent, calling attention to the fact tfcat a large quantity of offensive matter had been thrown out on the road at "Woolston from Mr Horler's candle factory. It was decided to reply that the matter had been attended to. A letter was read from Bev. G. FyncsClinton as to an overflow on to the church section at Philipstown from an artesian well on an adjoining section. The matter was referred to the inspector. INFECTIOUS DISEASES. Fifteen cases of infectious diseases were reported. The Board then adjourned.
