A parcel of common Victorian was placed at 4s lOd, aud tor good Vic♦nrbmSa is required, with every prospect of sales SSmdfi at the price. Maize .is still nominal; all the demand for feeding grain is allowed to run upon oats, in consequence of the scarcity ot the other corn grain. Sugars are in good request but Sony descriptions required are in short supply’at present, and business is therefore checked. The Company’s sugars meet with favor, and a good trade demand continues to be reported. Over and above the local business we hear of 150 tons having been taken up for export. The mail tele grams via Aden, looked tor since Thursday, have only turned up today. Dates nave been received up to Ist February from Mauritius. One telegram is to the following effect — ll JSo change in price, and rate of exchange unaltered: freight 20s to 22s 6d. The Nile is going to Dunedm with 325 tons, aud the George Shorten, to Dunedin with 225 tons, aud to Christchurch with 200 tons ; 3000 tons had been shipped during the month of grocery sugars to Victoria, aud Adelaide for orders, besides 1500 tons of refining.” By referring to last month’s telegrams, we learn that -these shipments comprise the Eastern Star (arrived), Excelsior, Mary Hicks, Franklin, Cardiganshire and Alliance, leaving only about 800 tons of -new clearances for tbe mouth. Of these the Guiding Star, which cleared with 350 tons, was injured, and had to put bucx for repairs, and being compelled to discharge, may not leave again for some time. There are therefore only the Nyauza, with about 300 tons, and the Luttery, with 150 tons of grocery sugars, left to make up the fresh quantity of 800 tons thus advised, in addition to which, however, we learn that there are 800 tons of refining sugar loading for the Company, 250 tons ai-a loading for Adelaide, and 350 tons for Sydney. Owing to stocks being so much reduced and tne crop being over, prices were very firm. Whites were quoted at 775d01, to Bdol., and yehow at 7’25d01. to 7'50d01.
