INTERPROVINCIAL. [PEE PEESS AGENCY.] Narrow Escape of Mr Macandrew from Drowning. "Westport, February 22. On the Ministerial party reimbarking on Wednesday night the tender could not lie alongside the Hinemoa on account of the heavy swell. Mr Macandrew, while getting from the open boat up the side of the steamer, missed his grip, and fell into the water. He had a narrow escape from drowning, as the sea was yery lumpy, and the night somewhat dark. Clark's Rink Hall was totally destroyed by fire at half-past twelve last night. The cause is a mystery, the proprietor being out of town. His wife states that no one is known have entered the building after eight in the morning, and the doors were then all locked. No lights were used there for many previous evenings. The adjacent dwellings were saved by the strenuous efforts of the brigade. The building was insured in the New Zealand Office for £550. The value of the hall and W&$ £6OO. Nhlson, February 22. A numerously signed was forwarded from Nelson some time ago to the G-overnor praying for a mitigation of the sentence of Captain Davis, of the Queen Bee, whose certificate was suspended for three years. The G-overnor transmitted it to the Board of Trade, and news has been received by the San Francisco mail that they have reduced the term of the suspension *,o one year, granting pantain Davis a mate's certificate in the' 1 nfearitiW
