Bankers: Bank of New Zealand, Solicitors : Messrs Garrick and Cowliahaw. Secretary : Josiah Birch. The Company is formed to construct and work Tramways, more especially in and about Christchurch. An extennon to Heathoote with a view ultimately of continuing the line to Sumner. The first four lines the Directors purpose constructing without any unnecessary delay, as they are satisfied the Tram Cars will become deservedly popular, and will speedily create a traffic which the Directors believe will prove fairly remunerative. The Directors have placed themselves in communication with the Christchurch City Council, the Sydenham Municipal Council, and the Avon Road Board, from whom they have received assurances of goodwill to the undertaking, and with whom they hope to complete satisfactory arrangements. The success which has attended tramways in various cities of Europe, and the United States of America, the rapidly increasing population of Christchurch and its suburbs, added to the level nature of the country, enable the Directors confidently to recommend the enterprise to the public, not only on account of the reasonable profits which may be expected to accrue, but also on. the score of public convenience by additional facilities of communication. The Directors have purposely made the value of the shares low, in order that all classes of the community may participate in the benefits to he derived from this nndertaking, and they do not anticipate calling up more than J 62 10s per share.
