The s.s. Arawata arrived from Wellington and Nelson at 8 n.m., and sails for Melbourne via South this afternoon. The s.s. Grafton, from Wellington and West Coast, arrived this morning, and sails on her return trip to-morrow. The s.s. Tui sails for Kaikouras, Wellington, and "Foxton at 6 p.m. The " Evening Post ”of the Bth says Captain Johnson leaves in the Stella to-morrow for tho North to complete several important surveys of the harbors and to buoy their channels. The principal places he will survey and buoy are the Mannkau (South channel),'Hokianga, Kuipara, and AVaugape. Several changes are known to have taken place lately in the channels of these barters, rendering their re-survey a work of urgent necessity and importance. Several vessels recently have had narrow esi"nes of stranding owing to these changes. The Now Zealand “Herald” states that the schooner Mnrv Ogilvie, which has undergone extensive repairs since she came up from tho South, sailed for Whangapouu on Feh. 3rd to load timber for Lyttelton,

Wellington, February 11. The Wakatipu has arrived from Sydney with the following passengers for L itclton—Mrs Fisher, Miss Watts, Messrs Watts and Mair. She sails South at 3 p.m. to-day. The ship St. Leonards sailed for London with ■I2OO bales of wool and sundry cargo, value £86,730. She has a number of passengers The Underwriters' Association repoit from Melbourne that the following vessels had arrived at l.iondon ou the 29tb of January- Gladstone and Harlan, from Sydney; Ben Cruucbah, from Geelong ; and Licutaut, from Brisbane. Bluff, February 11. Tho Kingarooma arrived yesterday evening, having left Saudridgc at 1 p.m. ou the 6th it st. Site brings 37 saloon and SI steerage passengers, and >55 tons cargo for all ports. She sails for Dunedin at 2 p.m. Passengers for Lyttelton—Mrs Braithwaito and child, Miss Stephenson, Messrs Dnnford, Gilchrist, Burgh, Ivory, Mr and Master Brooks, 4 in steerage, andß3 tons cargo.
