AVON ROAD BOARD.
The Board met on January 30th. Present —Tho Chairman, and Messrs Strouts, Hadfield, and Dickenson. With regard to widening the road to New Brighton, tho surveyor was instructed to ascertain the interests of the present tenants and original lessee. With regard to the road leading to Mr Dunnage's, the surveyor was instructed to havo the road formed by the labor gang. Letter was received from Mr Deßourbel, asking to have the road by the river formed to the fellmongery. The clerk was instructed to reply. Letter was received from the chairman of the New Brighton School Commitlee complaining of the flooded state of the river, whereby children were prevented from attending the school. The clerk was instructed to write to tho Drainage Board upon the subject. Letter enclosing tracing and report was received from Messrs Thompson and Parkerson relative to the proper drainage of road on section 46. The clerk was instructed to reply. The surveyor was instructed to call tenders for shingling roads on section 2438. by next meeting. The surveyor was instructed to inspect the Stanmore road with regard to the drainage, and report next meeting. Circular was received from Messrs Bain and Warner. Letter was received from Mr E. Mitchell, offering to give shingle for shingling road from this harveet, upon certain conditions. Mr Hadlield, with the surveyor, were requested to examine into tho matter and report next meeting. Tenders were received for forming Green Lane and road on section 6, and that of Fergusson for the former, and McFadden for the latter, were accepted. Accounts to the amount of £492 3s 8d were passed and ordered to be paid.
