The schooner Columbia arrived from Napier early th Tlies?Eotornaarrived from Port Chalmersat 10 a.m., and sails for Sydney, via Wellington, Napier, and Auckland this afternoon. "fhe barque Malay was towed into the No. 4 wharf, and moored in the Italy s berth, where she loaded 30 tons cargo, and sailed for Northern ports at 4 p.m yesterday. The brigantine Flora arrived in harbor, from Pelorns Sound, last evening. The Inchgreen sailed from Calcutta for Lyttelton on December 22nd. AEEIVAL OF THE CARNATIC FROM LONDON. The Carnatic was signalled at 1.10 p.m. She is from London'with Her passage has occupied 88 days, the vessel having left Plymouth on Nov. sth. THE ELLOEA, FROM CALCUTTA, VIA ADELAIDE AND MELBOURNE. This handsome barque was signalled early yesterday morning, and anchored off Eipa Island at 9 a.m. She is from Calcutta, via Adelaide and Melbourne, and brings a cargo of rope, gunny bags, cornsacks, &c.. about 1600 tons in ah. The Ellora is one of the largest barques afloat, her register being 1737 tons. She has splendid ealoou accommodation, having been originally one of the P. and O. Co’s steamers. Her master, Captain Clavtou, was here years ago in command of one ot the'Panama Co.’s boats. The Ellora left Calcutta on October 22nd, and made the run to Adelaide in 52 days. She did the passage from -hat port to Melbourne in 55 hours, a splendid performance for any sailing vessel, bnt her sharp steamer s lines give her great speed, though they necessitate the carriage of a large quantity of ballast. She left Port Phillip Heads at 1 p.m. on the 17th Jannarv ; moderate S.E. breeze until to the westward of King’s Island, when the wind hauled ronnd bv the north, and came on to blow fresh from N.W., increasing to a heavy gale as it veered to the S.W., lasting until the third day out. when it fell light from S„ and continued so until passing between Stewart’s Island and the Trap rocks on the eighth day; from thence had light winds and calms all the wav up the coast. Kept dose in shore to benefit by the northerly current, which during the last five days drifted her 100 miles. Anchored at 10 45 p m. on the 30th, and came up harbor yesterday morning. Her cargo is for P. Cunningham and Co and Eoyse, Stead and Co. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Auckland, January 31.
