Terrible Railway Accident in New South Wales. Sydney, January 31. A terrible collision has taken place on the Western line, in the Blue Mountains, between two goods trains. One engine said a number of trucks came down an incline with great speed, running into another train. The engines telescoped, killing three drivers and three stokers. Two others are lying in a dangerous condition. The goods trucks, tilled with merchandise, caught fire, and are now burning.

[PBB PBHSB AGBNOT.] Mr Barton in Prison. Wesleyan Conference. WELLINGTON, January 31. good deal of curiosity has been evinced as to Mr Barton's conduct and treatment as a prisoner, ft appears his treatment will be strictly that of a person committed for trial. He will not be subjected to hard, labor, but will only be allowed ordinary prison fare, and if his wife or any friei;d wishes to see him, an order must be obLained from a visiting justice. At the Wesleyan Conference it was resolved to send the following recommendations to the Q-eneral Conference : —" That parents be required to see the minister, or other person appointed by the Church, preparatory to baptism; that at that ordinance, in addition to other questions, the parents be publicly asked, ' Hoyou wish to bring up your children in connection with the Wesleyan Church?'; that a leader bo appointed to keep a baptismal record ; that all baptised children be regarded as provisionally Church members, to be received into full membership in the usual way when they shall have reached an appropriate age and shall have satisfied the leaders of their fitness; that the form of baptismal service bo revised ; that a formal servico, for the recognition of those transferred to full and accredited membership, be held from time to time." Dunedin, January 31. The result of the ballot for the election of one director and two auditors for the Colonial Bunk was the election of Eichard Oliver as director, find Keith Ramsay and W. P. Street as auditors. Judge Chapman was the only other candidate lor the office of director. It is reported that Mr Reid, M.H.R. for Taieri, has decided to resign his position as member of the House. Mr Reid intends to address his constituents shortly. Mr George McLean, M.H;R., will address his constituents in Waikouaiti township next Wednesday.
