INTERCOLONIAL CRICKET MATCH.

AUSTRALIA, v. WELLINGTON.— THIRD DAY. [B*r Telegraph.] [PROM THE CORRESPONDENT OP THE PRESS] Wellington, January 29. Tlie intercolonial cricket matcli was continued to-day in fine weather, but with a very poor attendance. At cloven o’clock the two not-oub men, Willis and Wyatt, faced Garrett and Spofforth. Wyatt made a good leg hit for :j. Wyatt hit Spoiforth over his head for 1. Willis was then howled by Spofforth for 6, Wyatt carrying out. his but for 5. This left the Australians ten to make. After a short interval 0. and A, Bannerman went in to the bowling of Fordham and T. J. [Salmon. Fordham bowled a maiden, and two singles followed to C. Bunnermau. A. Bannerman then made a good cut, but it only produced 1, being well fielded by Horwood. C. Bnnnerman was soon after caught by the long stop in trying to hit one of Salmon’s to leg. Spofforth now came, and he and A. Bannertnan hit off the required runs, the Eleven thus winning by nine wickets. A fresh one innings game was then arranged, and the Wellington team were pub in. Some very good scores were made, notably by Kennedy 30, Willis 27, and I. J. Salmon 25. Blackham was much hurt at the wicket by a blow from the ball on the head, and had to retire. The total score of the twenty-two at 5.15 was 213, They then retired to drink the health of the Australian team in bumpers of champagne, Mr Pearce proposing and Mr Gregory responding in an appropriate speech. At 5.20 the Eleven sent in the two Bannermans, to the bowling of Fordham and I. J. Salmon. A. Bannerman got a single, then hit Fordham out of the ground for 4. A. Bannerman was then out leg before wicket, off Fordham, when time was called. The following were the additions to the score in the match proper : Wellington Twenty-two. Fanner roan, not out ... ... ... 2 Spofforth, not out 5 10 [PER PEEB3 AGENCY.] The second innings of Wellington commenced at 11.5 a.m., Willis and Wyatt, the not out men, going in. Runs came slowly, when Willis was clean bowled by Spofforth for 6. Wyatt, not out, 5. Total, 84. At 11.15 Wellington took the field, A. and 0. Bannerman at the wickets, to the bowling of Fordham and J. Salmon. 0. Bannerman made 3, and was caught by Wj'att off J. Salmon. 4 —l—3. Spofforth filled the vacancy, aid hit Fordham for 2, again for 1, when the game was called, Australia winning with nine wickets to fall.

Salmon caught him off Kendall. 48—3—2. Eordham came. Kennedy, after a fine innings for 30, was caught at the wickets hy Murdoch. 49—4—30. Armitage followed, added 2 to the score, and left before a good ball from A. Bannerman, Lynch came. 54—5 —2. Then Lord ham was bowled by Kendall. 54—6—1, Blacklock showed up. Lynch skied ono to coverpoint, and Garrett held it. 57—7—0. I. J. Salmon appeared on the field. GO and 70 on the board, and in very short time Gregory relieved Kendall, slow under#, and Spofforth bowling in place of A. Bannerman. 80 camo. Spofforth caught and bowled Blacklock, he having made 16. J. A. Salmon came and left, caught by Garrett off Gregory on. 2—9 —o. W. J. Salmon filled the vacancy and gave an easy chance to A. Bannerman, who refused it. Horan relieved Gregory and sent W. J. Salmon out, he being caught by Gregory off Horan. 100 on the board. Lockett followed and left l.b.w, 100 —11 —0. Speed filled the vacancy and 110 was seen. I. G. Salmon who was playing brilliantly caught by Gregory off Horan. 116 —12 —15. Robinson followed, made 1, and left, bowled by Spofforth. 118—13—1. Speed was bowled next ball by the same bowler. 118—14—11. Oundy and Webb filled the vacancies. 120 came on the board. Spofforth bowled Cundy. 130—15 —0. Edmunds followed, when Horan bowled him. He made 1. 133—16—1. Kember came, and with Webb, who was playing very steadily, ran up to 140. Then 150 came, when Kember succumbed to Garrett being clean bowled. 158—17 —8. Lambert followed, and 160 was shown. Kendall then relieved Horan, Webb playing very well. Garrett bowled Lambert with a trimmer. 170—18 —3. Wyatt came, and was caught by , a substitute first ball off Garrett. 170—19—0. Smith followed aud was run out. 170 —2o—o. Willis then took the vacant place, and runs came lively, soon bringing 100 on the board. A. Bannerman relieved Kendall, but still runs came, and 200 was shown on the board amidst great cheers. Then 210 came, when Bannerman bowled a wide. Willis scored 2, and was clean howled by Bailey, who had relieved Garrett. All out for 213. After an adjournment of ten minutes play was resumed, A. and 0. Bannerman taking the wickets against the bowling of Eordham and I. J. Salmon. A. Bannerman soon retired.
