A movement is being initiated to induce Sir George Grey to contest the seat vacated by Mr Travers, after his return from the Waikato, Mr Bright, who has been delivering several lectures here, lectured in the Theatre last night. At the dinner in the evening Mr Eva, president of the Otago Cricket Association, said the reason the Canterbury cricketers declined to visit Dunedin to continue the interprovincial matches was because the Otago Association could not oblige them by altering, for their convenience, the Otago match with the Australian Eleven.
