[from our own correspondent.] The Gold Discoveries in Hew Guinea. Sydney, January 16. The Bertha, missionary schooner, confirms the report that gold has been discovered in New Guinea. The A scar has arrived at Coold own from Hong Kong, with 200 Chinese for Dunedin.

The weather to-day is gloriously fine. General regret is expressed that the Australians did not stay till tin’s evening to conclude the match.
